The Browne Family

For many years now, I've been very closely connected Washington Dulles International Airport based on my time working for the Airports Authority, which continues today as a private business.  It has only been over the past several years that my photography has brought me to directly know Dulles' Airport Manager, and come to know him and his family.  With their son headed off to the Marine Corps, and the rest of the family soon busy with work and school, Chris' family asked me to take some pictures while everyone was still in town this Summer. This wasn't the first time I have photographed the Browne family (and certainly not the first time Chris has been in front of my lens) - the Brownes love having a great time, and will always make you feel welcome, both in their home, and going out... perhaps to a vineyard...

Chase and Briana: Engaged

Not long after Briana's return from Japan, I joined her and Chase on a hike around Riverbend Park in Great Falls, Virginia.  Upon reaching the dam, Chase and Briana enjoyed some downtime, bringing NERF guns and foam swords, jumping from rock to rock.

Jalopnik at Katie's Cars and Coffee

UPDATE:  This blog post was featured on Jalopnik on August 26th, 2013.  See the full story and comments there. It's been a busy month of exciting things happening this August at Katie's Cars and Coffee in Great Falls, Virginia.  The weekly auto drive-in and show has recently grown in popularity this Summer, thanks to more frequent appearances of extremely rare and expensive cars, such as an original Cunningham C2R that first made an appearance on May 25th (and a return trip on August 17th)...

...and more recently, two separate  Bugatti Veyrons.  The first made an appearance on July 6th, coming from nearby Volkswagen corporate offices in Dulles, and a second, privately owned Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport on August 10th, which flew in earlier this month on a Saudi Arabian Airlines flight to Washington Dulles International Airport, and has been seen touring its way up the Eastern seaboard.  This is the same Veyron which has been spotted in Georgetown, downtown Washington, DC, and most recently sustained damaged in a collision with a truck in New York City, just yesterday.

All this attention hasn't gone unnoticed by local automotive enthusiasts of car news website and blog, Jalopnik, and this past Saturday (August 24th), a number of Jalops (active members of the Jalopnik community) met to enjoy a Cars and Coffee event at Katie's Coffee House.  Among the group was Washington, DC based Jalopnik writer, Patrick George, who arrived in a Cadillac ATS on loan to him for review.

The group met in the company of fellow car lovers, and toured this weekend's Cars and Coffee offerings, stopping to chat with drivers, and discuss interesting stories of ownership, and automotive history behind some manufacturers and their innovations.

The meet was an amazing success, only made better by perfect weather.  The group stood for a picture in front of the classic Bently, and parted ways, until the next time we choose to meet.  A special thanks to Nick for helping organize, who unfortunately was unable to attend.

Chase and Briana: Reunited

Engaged couple Chase and Briana have spent the past year apart while Briana has worked in Japan, but were finally reunited at Ronald Reagan National Airport's beautiful Terminal Building.  Chase eagerly awaited Briana's arrival, anxiously watching for her flight to be marked as Landed on the flight information display.  On first sight of each other in a year, Briana broke out into a sprint and jumped into Chase's arms, all unaware Chase had secretly brought me along to capture the palpable emotion of their reunion.

Chad and Bess

I first met Chad during our time in the Boy Scouts; while we haven't kept in close contact after we both earned the Rank of Eagle Scout, we have periodically kept up with each other's lives after Troop 146 - my journey into photography, and his time at Virginia Military Institute.  When Chad and Bess became engaged, Chad almost immediately contacted me to be their wedding photographer - I was more than delighted! Chad and Bess were married on July 5th, 2013 in Alexandria, Virginia in the company of family, friends, and classmates.  After a Catholic wedding ceremony, the couple, joined by loved ones, danced the Summer night away, celebrating the day "Chad and Bess love each other the least" - the best is yet to come!  "He's just Chad, and she's just Bess."

Congratulations to both of you - I wish you both the very best life has to offer!

All of Chad and Bess' wedding photos may be viewed and prints purchased here.

Final Notes:  Many of these photos were processed using VSCO's new Film 04: Slide - I think it's the best version they've released to date!  My favorite so far is the Fuji Astia 100F setting for portraits, but I also found that Fuji Velvia 100 works wonderfully on outdoor photos (so long as you boost color temperature) - this isn't shocking in the least, because these were the intended purposes of both these respective films.  And finally, this is the first blog I have posted which is compatible with HiDPI displays, such as the Apple Retina Display.  Please email me if there are any problems.
